The Apax Mips is an all-rounder in the off-road sector and is one of the lightest helmets in its category. For maximum comfort and safety provides the Run System Ergo Flex in combination with Hi-EPS and Mips.

Lightweight off-road helmet: the Apax MIPS from Alpina

The adjustment system impresses with its filigree design and fixes the helmet evenly to the head over a 360 degree range. There is no more individual, smooth and comfortable way to adjust a bike helmet. Another plus for comfort: the removable padding. It always feels comfortable to wear - no matter how hot the terrain gets.

The low weight of the Apax Mips is due to the inmold production, in which the upper shell is thermally bonded to the Hi-EPS. This results in a firm surface connection, which is responsible for a very stable construction. The lower edge of the helmet is protected by another polycarbonate shell. Thanks to the seamless connection, it nestles seamlessly against the upper shell.

For maximum safety on rough trails, the rear and the temple area are pulled further down. This creates even greater head coverage. In the event of a fall with an angled impact, Mips is designed to help reduce rotational forces acting on the head. Large ventilation openings enable optimum ventilation, fly screens keep insects away from the head and the height-adjustable shield guarantees additional protection in the field of vision.

Features - Apax MIPS

Technologies

MIPS
MIPS is a system that protects against brain injuries that can be caused by rotational movements in the event of an impact. The low-friction insert enables a sliding movement of 10-15 mm in all directions and thus reduces the rotational movement in the event of a fall. MIPS thus offers additional protection.

AIR FLOW VENTING
Alpina developers spend a lot of time and energy on continuously improving the ventilation of the bike helmets. Our engineers create a "Venturi" effect inside the helmet through wind tunnel-tested arrangement of the vents, which cools the head, leads to less sweat and higher performance.

FLY NET
The front ventilation openings of the helmet are fitted with a mesh fabric. This fulfills the same function as an insect screen and prevents insect bites on the scalp in hot and humid riding periods and locations.

CERAMIC SHELL
All Inmold-manufactured helmets from Alpina are fitted with this shatterproof and scratch-resistant polycarbonate shell. The blank is stretched under high heat to the shape of the later helmet and pressed under high pressure onto its Hi-EPS body. The material is characterized by several qualities at the same time: It is break- and scratch-resistant, UV-stable and antistatic.

EDGE PROTECT
Edge Protect is a processing method that ensures that Inmold helmets have no sharp edges. This reduces the risk of injury in two ways: firstly, hands are protected when handling the helmet, and secondly, in the event of an impact, the neck and shoulder area are protected from scratches on contact with the lower edge of the helmet.

ERGOMATIC
Tried and tested hundreds of thousands of times and used in all Alpina bicycle helmets: the familiar belt buckle with red push button and multi-stage automatic latching mechanism. Ergomatic can be operated with one hand - uphill you can loosen the strap, downhill you can tighten it - and cannot open itself in the event of a fall.

HI-EPS
The inner shell of every Alpina helmet is made of Hi-EPS ("High Expanded Polystyrene"). It consists of microscopically small air chambers which optimally absorb the forces acting on the helmet in the event of an impact. HI-EPS ensures extra-thin wall thicknesses and narrow helmet shapes despite its optimum protective effect.

INMOLD
In the Inmold production process, the polycarbonate upper shell of the helmet is "bonded" to the EPS granules of the helmet body under high heat and pressure. This creates a large and inseparable bond between the upper and lower shells. Advantage: The helmet is very light and extremely stable at the same time.

RUN SYSTEM ERGO MIPS
The first fitting system with integrated MIPS. The RUN SYSTEM ERGO FLEX MIPS offers individual, height-adjustable adjustment of the helmet. This combination not only increases comfort, but also ensures additional safety in the event of impacts with rotational forces.

Y-CLIP
A helmet can only protect as well as it remains in the optimum position on impact. The fixation of the two straps under the ear plays a decisive role in this. The "Y-Clip" system from Alpina guarantees millimeter-precise adjustment - in a matter of seconds.
