The Coalition Spherical also rivals some road helmets when it comes to ventilation and cooling, combining massive front air intakes with efficient rear outlets via deep internal channels.
As with many Giro developments, one of the Coalition Spherical's most impressive innovations is hidden inside: The Halo system combines a chin bar made of Pebax® (a material developed to provide the perfect balance between flexibility and stiffness) with elastomer bushings embedded in the EPS to absorb and transmit kinetic forces. The result is a helmet that exceeds the standard test for deformation of the chin bar by almost double.
Two removable cheek pads of varying thicknesses in antibacterial Ionic+™ fabric are used to fine-tune the fit. The Coalition Spherical sets a new standard in the lightweight full-face helmet category.
Spherical MIPS® Technology
MIPS® equipped helmets reduce rotational force. Spherical MIPS® is a pair of foam layers that work like a ball and socket to redirect impact energy in a crash. The system uses two distinct layers of foam within the helmet, rather than a single layer of foam and plastic liner. One layer is EPS, which is well suited to high-speed crashes. The other is a lower-density EPP foam with rebound characteristics — together they are Spherical MIPS® Premium Protection!
In-Mold Construction
In-Mold Construction fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet's impact-absorbing foam liner. The fusion process allows for better ventilation systems, making in-mold helmets lighter and cooler than traditional helmets.
